Family leadership grows
Clarence Covert Sr. joins the business, helping build a family tradition connected to Austin’s automotive history.
1903–1936
Preserving local history
The Covert family restores the historic Carrington-Covert House in Austin, preserving a landmark that now serves as the Texas Historical Commission headquarters.
1936–1981
Generations guide the way
Third-generation family members help guide continued growth while keeping the business rooted in customer care and family values.
1938
A gift to Austin
The Covert family donates land at Mount Bonnell to Travis County, creating what is now known as Covert Park.
1986
Expansion beyond downtown
Covert expands beyond downtown Austin with a Bastrop location, adding Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac brands.
2001
Cadillac joins the family
Covert Auto Group acquires Austin’s only Cadillac franchise, expanding the group’s luxury presence.
2023
Bee Cave expansion
The group launches new Bee Cave dealerships featuring Cadillac, Buick GMC, and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram brands.
